Authenticate Your Iraqi Dinar Yourself Whether you buy your Iraqi Dinar from us, from another dealer, or off eBay, you should always take a few moments to authenticate your Iraqi Dinar for yourself. Even if you do buy from a dealer, don't rely on their certificate of authenticity.
It’s quick, easy, and only takes a few moments if you know what to look for.
After all, you wouldn't ask the used car dealer to check out a car your thinking about buying. You would take it to an unbiased third party mechanic, so don't rely on your dealer to tell you that your Dinar is authentic.
Take a look at the charts below to see which security features to look for when inspecting your notes. A quick and easy way to check your Dinar without going through every security feature is just to put it under a black light or UV light and see if the parts of the note which are supposed to react to the light and glow do so.
How Do I Authenticate My Iraqi Dinar I Purchased?
It's really quite simple. Here we have two charts, one showing the security features of the Iraqi Dinar and another showing the security features of the Vietnam Dong. Look at the security features on this chart and make sure your bills all share these same features.
As for the Iraqi Dinar, the most prominent and easiest feature to check is the horse head watermark which is labeled “A” in the diagram. This watermark is somewhat similar to watermarks you see on certain US Dollar bills, which feature Presidents faces. If you hold the bill up to a strong light source you should see a watermark of a horse head. Though not as prominent as the horse head watermark, if you look at the bottom left hand corner of the 25,000 Iraqi Dinar note, labeled “B” on the diagram, you will see the color changing symbol. If you tilt the bill similar to how you might tilt a hologram to see it change color, you will see this mark change color, or change shades in the light.
If you look on the part of the diagram labeled “C”, just to the right of the color changing mark you will see a line leading you to the area on the bill showing where the ultra violet feature which glows under a UV light, or black light. This is one of the easiest features to use to authenticate your Dinar as well as the quickest. You can pick up a black light pen from an online banking supply store for just a couple bucks; however even your average household black light will suffice. A black light bulb you can pick up at your local hardware store or Walgreens, put into a lamp will work just the same. Hold the bill under a black light and make sure this area of the bill glows a neon green color as shown in the diagram.
In the area of the diagram labeled “D”, you will see a blown up image of the silver security thread. This blown up image also features a line showing where on the bill this security thread is. The thread runs vertically down the bill just off center to the write. This thread is woven or embedded through the paper of the bill and is also a prominent security feature that is easy to see.
Lastly, if you look at the diagram showing the security features of the Iraqi Dinar and look at the part of the diagram labeled “E”, you will see a blown up image of the magnetic ink. This ink has a bit of a raised texture to it and is easy to tell it's different than your standard ink.
